Roy A. Fisher

Collaboration is a key thread in the wide-ranging experimental work of Paul Rabinow. This experimental work of giving form to a collaborative ethics of anthropology can be seen in the crucible of experience and experimentation (foyer d’expérience) known as the Labinar. Beginning with Rabinow’s own declaration that his collaborative anthropological experimentation has been oriented to an ethical end, I explore two ethical parameters in Rabinow’s work that are central to what I am calling a collaborative ethos. These parameters are crucial to any stance that affords one the capacity for collaboration and not merely cooperation.
